2013-AutoShow

The North American International Auto Show is in Full Swing…

I paid a visit to the North American International Auto Show this week. Of course to see the cars, after all, this is the Motor City. It’s always fun to sit in some the high-priced convertible sports cars and do a little day-dreaming of being out on the open road, 70 degree weather, sun shining, cool drink… reality check: it’s about 9 degrees and cloudy outside right now.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by a few things outside of the cars.

First, the Auto Show was bigger. More floor area, more customization to the exhibits, and (angels singing) seating areas incorporated for attendees in many of the exhibits.

Secondly, I noticed that the big window sticker that normally adhered to the driver side window and displays the car pricing and feature information was not on a single vehicle.

Where was it? For the majority of exhibits, on a stand alone kiosk adjacent to the vehicle, that housed an iPad.

Now, you could interactively view the sticker information, select options to build your own model of the featured vehicle, watch videos about the vehicle, or do many other things. This change and use of technology created a much better experience.

Thirdly, the video walls. Most exhibits had video walls with content running on them that kept your interest with text and stunning video.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 2013 NAIAS experience.
The North American International Auto Show ends this weekend.
